HBO MAX ACQUIRES STUDIOCANAL’S THRILLER "POSSESSIONS"

Studio Canal announced its decision to sell the psychological thriller series “Possessions” to HBO Max. As an international Max Original, the series will be available on the US streaming platform in December 2020. “The demand for non-English language content continues to grow throughout the world and I am delighted that this exceptional drama will be available for a wide, global audience via HBO Max and its international Max Original brand,” Beatriz Campos, SVP Global Sales, and Production Financing, TV Series at Studio Canal said.  

The series was created by Shachar Magen and directed by BAFTA-nominated Thomas Vincent for CANAL+ Creation Original. It was filmed in Israel in French, Hebrew, and English.  The development of the show was support by the Creative Europe Program of the European Union. Studiocanal also had oversight of the show's international sales.

Created by leading production company Haut et Court TV, "Possessions" is produced by Caroline Benjo, Barbara Letellier, Simon Arnal, and Carole Scotta and co-produced by Eilon Ratzkovsky, Osnat Nishri, and Keren Misgav Ristvedt from Quiddity. The series was created especially for CANAL+ and Yes TV Israel with the participation of CNC and BeTV.  

The six 52-minute epidoes of the series were written by Shachar Magen in collaboration with Valérie Zenatti stars Nadia Tereszkiewicz, Reda Kateb, Dominique Valadié, Ariane Ascaride, Judith Chemla, Noa Koler, Aloïse Sauvage, Tzahi Grad Roy Nik and Tchéky Karyo. “The dramas that we can offer our clients are brimming with quality in their writing, talent, and production,” Campos said.

Young French expatriate in Israel, Natalie, is charged with the murder of her husband on their wedding night. Karim, a French diplomat in charge of helping French citizens who have to deal with the Israeli authorities, slowly falls for Natalie. Obsessed with this case, Karim will dive into Natalie and her family’s mysterious past.
