According to Sensor Tower, NBCU’s Peacock has been downloaded approximately 1.5 million times across the US App Store and Google Play within its first 6 days. The new service’s figure surpassed that of Quibi by 25%, more than the 1.2 million installs, but only 12% of the 13 million downloads Disney+ generated within its first week on the market.

The data analyst left HBO Max out of the comparison because HBO’s new service replaced the existing HBO Now app, which was already preinstalled on consumer devices. Despite being birthed from the conglomerate, Peacock has not amounted to have the recognition Disney has. Notably, Disney had a previous built-in fan base before its launch and offers a more family-friendly variety.

Before launching, Peacock was accessible on Comcast’s Xfinity X1 and Flex platforms, but not mobile programs. The app, launched 15th July, was quickly ranked #1 on the Apple app store for more than one day. On iPad, it ranked No. 1 between 16th July and 18th July. Though it has now dropped to the 26th spot, No. 26 on iPhone, it has ranked No. 2 on Google Play since 17th July and is No. 1 among non-game apps.

Quibi received notable viewership shortly after launching, ranking as high as No. 4 on iPhone on its 6th April launch date. However, the streamer’s popularity quickly declined in the U.S., falling outside of iPhone app rankings and its competitors, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video. It is believed that the drop resulted from lack of support for TV viewing, despite launching in the middle of a pandemic as people obeyed stay-at-home restrictions. Quibi has disputed recent reports of its slow traction, noting earlier this month its app had gained 5.6 million downloads.

Peacock hasn’t quite hit the same level of viewership is expected to increase upon launching on the Amazon Fire TV and Roku. Sensor Tower’s figures indicate it hasn’t had the most successful launch. Companies have made it even more difficult for consumers to connect due to their lack of a recognizable brand name dedicated apps.
