SP's "Vanda" will be available in Hulu in the United States

"Vanda" will soon become available US streaming platform Hulu. The streaming platform will serve as the exclusive source for the series in the country.“We are thrilled to partner with Hulu to bring Vanda to U.S. audiences. "Vanda" was recently acquired by the Canal+ Group, for broadcast on the POLAR+ channel in France, by Lionsgate+ in Brazil and by the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) in Australia. In Portugal, VANDA is available on the SVOD OPTO/SIC platform since March 2022. The crime heist drama series is a co-production between independent production company SPi, Legendary Entertainment, and Spain's "La Panda."

"Vanda" is currently nominated for the Sophia Awards 2023, by the Portuguese Film Academy, in the category of Best Series/Television Film. Starring the actress Gabriela Barros, the cast also includes names like Joana de Verona as Elisa and João Baptista as Mário. Created by Patrícia Müller, VANDA was directed by Simão Cayatte, with the special collaboration of Spanish director Elia Urquiza. The production was supported by Almada City Hall, PIC Portugal (Portugal Cash Rebate), ICA, and the Portuguese Tourism. 

Based on real events, this series tells the story of a hairdresser from Lisbon who, in the middle of the 2008 financial crisis - after finding herself alone, broke, and with two children to raise - began to rob several banks, using a wig and a fake gun. Known as the "Black Widow," she was eventually caught and sentenced to seven years in prison, after stealing a total of 17,000 euros.
