Launched in 2018, In Development offers a response to the rapid growth in demand for exclusive original programming and for identifying projects at the initial development stage. It gives MIPTV’s attendees access to the event’s unrivalled community of international decision makers, experts and business leaders from all key markets and across all genres. In Development provides an international platform for producers looking to finance their international projects and for executives involved in pre-sales, co-financing, co-production and programming to discover these projects and establish development and production partnerships. “In Development continues to grow as a business accelerator that combines the discovery of great new projects, the access to international financing and the creation of strategic partnerships,” notes Lucy Smith, Deputy Director of Reed MIDEM’s Television Division, which organises MIPTV.

In Development industry event partners to date include: CannesSeris, Seriencamp, WebFest Berlin, Marseille Web Fest and Bilbao Web Fest.

To further facilitate deal making and encourage new business partnerships, In Development offers a suite of tools for use before, during and after the event, including: advanced online recommendations of people, projects and programmes through an AI-based algorithm in MIPTV’s online database of international producers, buyers, commissioners, distributors and investors; and a curated list of Producers to Watch from all genres and from all over the world, highlighting producers who are locally recognised as talented, innovative and pro-active, with an international potential and who could benefit from more international exposure and access to international partners.

“The TV and wider entertainment industry is evolving. This means that for many companies and broadcasters, accessing premium content increasingly requires entering the production cycle at the earliest possible stage. MIPTV and In Development are committed to providing the industry with the means to achieve this goal,” adds Lucy Smith.
