Beta Film secures sales for Elsa Morante’s "La Storia”

The eight-hour drama was acquired by NRK for Norway, YLE for Finland, SVT for Sweden, DR for Denmark, and RUV for Iceland ahead of its world premier at the Rome International Film Festival.

Beta Film announced that Elsa Morante’s "La Storia's"  World Premier at the Rome International Film Festival took place on today, 20 October in attendance of cast and crew, which marks a full circle moment for the series set in the Eternal City and first presented at last year’s MIA Market. Beta Film has sold the Picomedia/Thalie Images drama based on the iconic bestselling novel throughout Scandinavia, to Slovakian pubcaster RTV and RTL Hungary ahead of the premiere in Rome.  
 
The public broadcasters who acquired "La Storia" include NRK for Norway, YLE for Finland, SVT for Sweden, DR for Denmark, and RUV for Iceland. The World Premiere screening will take place on October 20, 9:30 pm, during the Rome International Film Festival at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, Sala Sinopoli.

Elsa Morante’s "La Storia" is produced by Picomedia, Thalie Images, in collaboration with Rai Fiction, and in co-production with Beta. Beta Film handles world sales. The Director Francesca Archibugi also serves as writer alongside Francesco Piccolo, as well as Giulia Calenda and Ilaria Macchia. Primetime Emmy-nominated Luca Bigazzi served as DOP, set design was done by Ludovica Ferrario, Catheruine Buyse and Valentina Monticelli were responsible for costume design.

The drama centers on Ida, a single mother of two sons, who hides her Jewish heritage and fights against poverty and persecution during the end of WWII and post-war Rome. The stellar cast is headlined by Italian A-lister Jasmine Trinca, also featuring Asia Argento, Elio Germano and Valerio Mastandrea.
