José Manuel Lorenzo will receive the Honorary Award at the 9th edition of Conecta Fiction & Entertainment, taking place in Cuenca from June 16 to 19. The award recognizes his exceptional career in the audiovisual sector, where Lorenzo has been a key figure in the evolution of modern Spanish television and the elevation of scripted content as a cultural and export engine. According to the Conecta Awards Committee, José Manuel Lorenzo embodies like few others the passion and transformation driving the industry forward in Spain.
Each year, the Conecta Fiction & Entertainment Honorary Award celebrates leading professionals whose vision, dedication, and impact have helped shape the television and content landscape. Previous recipients include industry heavyweights such as José Velasco (Spain) and Michele Benzeno (France), solidifying the award’s status as one of the most prestigious honors in the field.
For over three decades, José Manuel Lorenzo has remained at the forefront of the ever-changing audiovisual market, consistently championing innovation, high-quality content, and international reach. His strategic foresight and creative leadership have made him a reference in the industry.
Born in Pontevedra in 1959, Lorenzo is the President and Founder of DLO Producciones, a film and television production company affiliated with Banijay Group, the world’s leading content producer. An industrial engineer by training, he began his professional career at the Trillo Nuclear Power Plant before making a bold pivot into entertainment. He went on to study Film and Theatre Directing at TAI and earned a Master’s in Television Marketing at San Diego State University.
Throughout his career, he has held top executive roles at Spain’s leading broadcasters: Commercial Director at RTVE, General Director at Publiespaña, General Director at Antena 3—where he played a transformative role in Spanish drama—and General Director at Canal+, as well as Head of Content for Digital Plus at Sogecable. He also founded and led Grupo Drive and co-founded and served as Executive President of Boomerang TV. From 2015 to 2018, he was President of the Non Stop People channel, and later became CEO of DLO/Magnolia, where he achieved numerous entertainment successes.
