Content Warsaw 2024: Full agenda is confirmed, featuring Viaplay's screening

Disney, Max, Sky Showtime, Sony, and Warner Bros. Discovery will be among those attending, among others. Additionally, two keynote sessions have been announced as part of the three-day conference program, and they will be hosted by Warner Bros.

Content Warsaw has published its draft agenda for the three-day event featuring screenings, a conference programme and marketplace designed to bring buyers, coproducers, commissioners, channels and platforms together at the heart of the CEE region. Sony Pictures Television, Disney, Viaplay and United Media are confirmed to host screenings, with a LatAm showcase and more to be announced in the coming weeks. The event will take place at Kinogram, Warsaw, from June 3rd to June 6th, 2024.

Two further Keynote sessions have been announced as part of the three day conference programme. Maciej Gozdowski, Warner Bros. Discovery Poland will present and discuss the launch of Max in Poland and outline his streaming strategy and Wiktor Przeorski and Łukasz Poniński, also of Warner Bros. Discovery Poland will discuss how XR technology is shaping the future of content production.These keynotes join previously announced keynote interview with SkyShowtime chief content officer, Kai Finke who outline his CEE content strategy.

Other sessions in the conference agenda will include the Future Content Trends Report, what the next 12 months has in store for the CEE content business, a focus on pan-regional commissioning, new models for international distribution and partnerships, the current scripted production boom, new coproduction alliances and a deep dive into how AI can be used to enhance content business across the region.

On the other hand, Viaplay Content Distribution, the division of Viaplay Group responsible for content sales, along with Viaplay Select and international SVOD channels, will host its 2024 CEE Showcase at Content Warsaw. This showcase will feature a diverse range of scripted and non-scripted shows based on true stories from the region.

Among the highlights of the showcase is the upcoming crime drama "Mafia," which is inspired by real events. The series follows the life of a notorious gangster and depicts how Sweden transformed into a land of gang conflicts in the backdrop of the Yugoslav war during the 1990s. Additionally, the screening will include a selection of prominent Polish titles. These include the feature film "Seasons," a dramedy with a stellar cast that follows the story of a self-centered actor who ruins his marriage before realizing his mistakes. Also featured is "Rapist’s Journal," a chilling exploration of one of the most atrocious serial rapists, and "1992: Top Game," which chronicles the extraordinary journey of Poland's 1992 Olympic football team.

In conjunction with the showcase, Vanda Rapti, EVP of Viaplay Select & Content Distribution, will take the stage to discuss topics such as maximizing global distribution of European content, overcoming challenges related to D2C product market closures, and Viaplay’s future in Poland and the CEE region.
