ORF Enterprise will exclusively screen "Kafka" series in the frame of Berlinale Series Market Selects 2024. They will reveal the first two episodes on February 20, followed by a panel & Q&A session with the creative team. Armin Luttenberger, Head of Content Sales at the distributor, expresses his excitement and honor for this relevant opportunity.
ORF original "Kafka" has been chosen to be showcased at the Berlinale Series Market Selects. What does this recognition mean for you?
"This recognition at the Berlinale Series Market Selects is a great honor. It not only spotlights the exceptional qualities of 'Kafka' but also validates our commitment to delivering high-quality and captivating content. We are delighted if this opportunity arouses interest in ORF-Enterprise’s diverse drama portfolio and helps to shine the spotlight on creative filmmaking from Austria."
What can Berlinale attendees will expect from the series?
"For many viewers, especially those from German-speaking countries, Franz Kafka was for a long time mainly associated with compulsory school reading. The series succeeds in presenting the life story of this outstanding author in a visually stunning and highly entertaining way for a wide audience. The duo David Schalko and Daniel Kehlmann guarantee an entertaining and entertaining realization which spans Kafka’s life story, who was considered by many to have been the greatest and most famous writer of the twentieth century. The storyline primarily focuses on the points of view of the women closest to him - Felice, Milena, and Dora - while basing the narrative on the three-volume biography by Reiner Stach."
The six-part miniseries is set up to broadcast on ORF and ARD set in spring 2024. Are there others international players interested in the title?
"We are pleased to share that 'Kafka' has garnered significant international interest, although we are currently unable to disclose specific details as negotiations are ongoing."
Apart from showcasing "Kafka," what other goals do you have in the German market?
"While 'Kafka' takes center stage, our goals for the EFM and international markets in general extend beyond this flagship show. We aim to highlight the diversity of our Fiction catalog, including shows like 'School of Champions,' which explores the challenges faced by students at a prestigious ski academy, while 'Glambitious' portrays the dreams and struggles of girls from two quite different socioeconomic backgrounds. Our police procedural, 'Soko Linz,' also brings a unique tri-border perspective with its upcoming third season. As always, we aim to foster collaborations, build lasting partnerships, and showcase high-quality, compelling content made in Austria."
