The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominations for the 2025 International Emmy® Awards, setting a new record for geographic diversity. A total of 64 nominees from 26 countries will compete across 16 categories, ranging from drama and documentary to short-form series and kids’ programming.
“This year’s nominees, from a record 26 countries, reflect the global strength of our industry,” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy. “New York City will once again serve as the global stage this November, where we will honor their remarkable achievements.”
The 26 countries represented include a broad spectrum of global media markets, from established content exporters like the United Kingdom, France, and Brazil, to emerging powerhouses such as Kenya, Finland, and Qatar. Countries on this year’s list are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong – China, India, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Norway, Qatar, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
The 53rd International Emmy® Awards Gala is scheduled for Monday, November 24, 2025, in New York City, following the International Emmy® World Television Festival from November 21 to 23. The festival will bring together all nominees for panels, presentations, and networking events.
Nominees span the full range of television formats and genres. In Drama Series, titles like "Las Azules" (Mexico), "Bad Boy" (Israel), "Koek" (South Africa), and "Rivals" (United Kingdom) will compete for top honors. The Comedy category includes entries such as "Chicken Nugget" (South Korea), "Iris" (France), "Ludwig" (UK), and "Y Llegaron de Noche" (Mexico).
In performance categories, Diljit Dosanjh (India), Diego Vasquez (Colombia), Oriol Pla (Spain), and David Mitchell (UK) are nominated for Best Actor, while Charlotte Hope (South Africa), Anna Maxwell Martin (UK), Carolina Miranda (Mexico), and Maria Sid (Sweden) lead the Best Actress lineup.
The Kids’ categories highlight a robust pipeline of international family entertainment. Australia’s "Bluey", Brazil’s "Lupi e Baduki", and Finland’s "Muumilaakso" [Moominvalley] are among the contenders in Kids: Animation. In Kids: Live-Action, nominees include "Fallen" (UK), "Luz" (Brazil), "Prefects" (Kenya), and "Shut UP" (Norway).
The News and Current Affairs segments cover timely global issues, with nominations such as "Fantástico: El Salvador: Safety’s Somber Side" (Brazil), "The Gangs of Haiti" (UK), and "Gaza, Search for Life" (Qatar) reflecting a continued commitment to investigative journalism on a global scale.
In the high-impact Sports Documentary category, "Argentina ‘78" (Argentina), "Chasing the Sun 2" (South Africa), and "It’s All Over: The Kiss That Changed the Spanish Football" (Spain) exemplify how sports storytelling is gaining relevance as a global content genre.
This year’s Gala partners include Ay Yapim, CJ ENM, Dubai Studios, EY, Globo, Mediafellows, MIP, Plural, Sofitel New York, and Variety. Meanwhile, the Festival itself is supported by a wide range of international media and cultural organizations, from Amazon MGM Studios and The Walt Disney Company Latin America to Film and Media NRW and the Buenos Aires Film Commission.
