Kyiv Media Week
This year, the Kyiv Media Week International Media Forum will be held in a traveling format: a range of special guest sessions are developed in partnership with the leading European festivals and markets and will be hosted in three different countries – the Czech Republic, Italy, and France. KMW itself continues its mission of highlighting the current state of the Ukrainian AV industry and facilitating its development and integration into the global media market.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the production and creative sector of Ukraine has undergone radical changes – from emergency measures to preserve the business and human resources, to reactive adaptation to new realities and extensive entering the international market in search for new partnerships. Therefore, KMW 2022 will thematically focus on the superpowers of the Ukrainian media business, its challenges, and success stories, as well as on gradually gaining its own voice in the international space over the past six months.
Six KMW sessions will take place within the official programs of the International Festival of Web and TV Series Serial Killer (September 20-25, Brno, Czech Republic), MIA | International Audiovisual Market (October 11-15, Rome, Italy) and the 38th International Co-Production and Entertainment Content Market MIPCOM (October 17-20, Cannes, France).
“I appreciate all the support and readiness of our European colleagues to unite for Ukrainian industry's better future. The 12th edition of KMW proves that all these years we gathered our true friends and partners all over the world, and now, when the challenging time has come, all of them are open to us. The opportunity to speak directly to the audience of MIPCOM, MIA, and Serial Killer is crucially important for our media business. And it’s an honor for us to change KMW’s cover to Brno-Rome-Cannes Media Week this fall”, – says Kateryna Udut, CEO of MRM and head of KMW.
KMW’s panel discussions, screenings, and showcases featuring top execs of the leading Ukrainian media companies and their foreign partners are designed to present the strengths of the Ukrainian TV and film market, its viability, and its readiness to build sustainable international collaborations. The focus will be on the industry’s recovery after Ukraine's victory, modeling possible scenarios for each media sector development, and adapting to the new reality together with and as a part of the European community.
