The International Animation Film Market (Mifa) is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025 with a record-breaking edition that reinforces its role as a key driver of the global animation industry. From June 10 to 13, Mifa will welcome professionals from around the world to Annecy, offering expanded spaces, a rich slate of industry events, and new initiatives aimed at fostering collaboration, talent development, and technological advancement.

Spanning over 10,000m² with 200 stands and 200 scheduled events, Mifa 2025 reflects the market’s evolution into a central meeting point for animation, gaming, XR, and audiovisual sectors. The Exhibition Area has been enlarged by 600m², bringing the XR&Games section back to the heart of the event, facilitating closer interaction between professionals in animation and interactive media.

A highlight of this year’s edition is the presentation of the Mifa Animation Industry Award to iconic producer Didier Brunner, known for titles like "Kirikou." Brunner’s recognition underscores Mifa’s legacy in supporting groundbreaking projects since its early days.

The Pitch sessions continue to be a cornerstone of Mifa’s agenda, with a record 917 project submissions from 92 countries. A total of 48 projects were selected across categories including feature films, series, shorts, immersive experiences, and, for the first time, animated documentaries. Additionally, 25 Partner Pitch sessions will showcase over 120 projects from emerging markets such as India, Madagascar, South America, and Southeast Asia, reinforcing Mifa’s status as a launchpad for international co-productions and creative exchange.

The conference program will address critical industry topics across innovation, business, and production. Key sessions will explore AI’s role in animation workflows, adapting video games into animated content, market resilience strategies, and the growing space for animated documentaries. Major studios like Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Riot Games, and LAIKA will lead Studio Focus presentations, while companies such as Pixar, Epic Games, and Autodesk will host technical demos.

Talent development remains a priority with Le Campus Mifa offering 40 dedicated events for students and emerging professionals, including recruitment sessions with leading studios like Walt Disney Animation Studios, Netflix Animation, and ILM/Lucasfilm. New initiatives such as the Student Pitch and specialized workshops further position Mifa as a critical bridge between education and industry.

The XR&Games area will also see heightened activity, including the second edition of the Video Game Cinematic Works & Game Trailers Competition, featuring entries from global players like Ubisoft, Blizzard Entertainment, and PASSION PICTURES.

As Mifa celebrates four decades, it continues to adapt to the evolving dynamics of the animation and interactive entertainment sectors. With its comprehensive programming, focus on innovation, and commitment to nurturing global talent, Mifa 2025 is set to reaffirm its role as a cornerstone event for industry professionals navigating a rapidly changing market.
