"Mother and Son"
ABC Commercial has released its new slate of Australian content for MIPCOM 2023, which includes premium scripted and unscripted programs plus new formats. Leading the scripted slate is audience hit "Mother and Son" (8x30'), a playful comedy series from Wooden Horse about ageing, changing family roles, and caring for someone you love – even when they’re driving you up the wall!
"Planet Lulin" (10x30') is a coming-of-age sci-fi comedy for school-aged children and families that explores universal themes of self-discovery and belonging while navigating the cosmic shifts of growing up. The series will be broadcast on the ABC network in 2024.
In the unscripted offer, ABC Commercial promotes the factual entertainment program "The Way We Wore" hosted by Celeste Barber that explores the fashion industry, while the action-packed "First Weapons" explores the inherent knowledge, innovation, and science of Australia’s oldest and deadliest first weapons.
Trading Kelpies for Border Collies for its second series, smash hit "Muster Dogs" returns to share the uplifting journeys of five adorable pups as they are trained by graziers across the country. Dogs also take centre stage in heart-warming series and format "New Leash on Life", which pairs pound dogs with people in need.
A strong factual slate includes documentaries "The Dark Emu Story and Dolphins: Is Our Love Too Deep?" plus groundbreaking science-based programs including "Monsters or Medicine?" and "Dark Side of the Universe."
Lastly, new formats include: "WTFAQ", where curiosity and comedy meet as viewers’ weird and wonderful questions are answered by a crack team of reporters; and "Gardening Australia Junior", which invites kids to get their hands dirty, and is packed full of tips, tricks and activities that can be adapted for all seasons and locations.
Karen Quinn, Manager: Content Sales, ABC Commercial said: "ABC Commercial is delighted to be presenting such a strong new slate of content at MIPCOM 2023.
