To reinforce its positioning as a content producer for multiple platforms, Globo takes to NATPE Budapest 2022, the main global business forum for producers, buyers and distributors of content in Eastern Europe, its main launches. With different genres and formats, Globo presents plots that attract audiences from various targets with a portfolio of strategic business solutions. Among their main contenders for the Eastern European market are the telenovelas "Pantanal", "A Life to Die For" and "A Trick of Fate", the Globoplay Original Series "Under Pressure 5", "Unsoul 2", "Aruanas 2", and the successful franchise "Hidden Truths".
"These are products that show our versatility in telling universal stories, with high engagement power for audiences around the world. In addition, these are productions that convey Globo's technical quality and show our competitiveness in the audiovisual market," says Isadora Filpi, Globo's Sales Manager.
The Eastern European market is strategic for Globo, with a history of more than 250 sales to the territory. Globo is present in the Polish and Hungarian markets with more than 50 sales.
The main contender to engage European audiences, "Pantanal", is currently the viewership leader on Brazilian television, reaching 35.8 million people per day and all types of audiences, with a 30% audience growth compared to the previous telenovela from the same time slot. The plot, a classic family saga, which had already been a huge success in the country 30 years ago, written by author Benedito Ruy Barbosa, has been updated into a new version written by his grandson, Bruno Luperi, and continues to captivate the public.
"Under Pressure" premiered its 5th season in Brazil exclusively on Globoplay, Globo's streaming platform, on June 2nd and reached the second-ranking position among the most consumed series on the platform between June 2nd and June 20. Written by Lucas Paraizo and directed by Andrucha Waddington, the new plot is presented after the success of the previous episodes, which had already conquered audiences in more than 60 countries, such as Italy, and the Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, and Ecuador, among others.
Throughout its five seasons, “Under Pressure” has become a show recognized in many places around the world. Praised by the public and critics alike, its narrative gained international notoriety in its very first season, being presented at festivals such as Berlinale (Berlin) and TIFF (Toronto). Since then, “Under Pressure” has gained a lot of recognition, winning four awards at the 31st Festival International de Programmes Audivisuels (2018), in Biarritz, France: best series; best actress and actor (for Marjorie Estiano and Julio Andrade, respectively) and best screenplay. In Argentina, the series premiered on Telefe in January 2019 and has established itself among the most-watched shows on FreeTV. “Under Pressure” was also shown in Portugal, on the Globo channel, and is today one of the company's best-selling series in the international market.
Natpe Budapest also marks the international launch of the second season of Unsoul, Globoplay's original supernatural thriller."A Life to Die For" and "A Trick of Fate" aired between 2021 and 2022 on TV Globo. The second season of "Aruanas" was released on Globoplay in 2021, and "Unsoul"’s in 2022.
