Event organiser Reed Midem and the French town of Cannes have agreed a five-year extension to their current deal. The agreement will see Reed Midem operating six of its conferences – including MIPTV and Mipcom – in the city until 2024.

The deal was struck last week by David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes; Paul Zilk, CEO of Reed Midem; and Claire-Anne Reix and Didier Boidin, who work for SEMEC, which runs the town’s Palais des Festivals conference centre.

“Reed Midem has been organising major international business events in Cannes since MIPTV in 1965. The city is transforming itself in a positive manner, thanks to public and private investment that continually develops its services and its international competitiveness,”  Paul Zilk declared.

As Zilk said, Reed Midem first held MIPTV in Cannes in 1965. Today, the Palais des Festivals hosts six of the organiser’s events every year: Midem, Mipim, MIPTV, Mipcom, Mapic and eSports Bar, bringing together more than 62,000 executives from 130 countries on an annual basis and generating in excess of €250m ($280m) in economic benefits to the town.
