GMA Network kept its nationwide ratings lead in March despite recent programming changes in light of the COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in a Luzon-wide lockdown.

While the channel remains committed to delivering reliable news and information to the public across all its platforms, it has temporarily suspended the production of its entertainment programs in compliance with the Philippine government’s implementation of the enhanced community quarantine. The result is a programming line-up which includes re-runs of well-loved GMA programs.

Citing the latest data from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement in March (with March 22 to 31 based on overnight data), GMA registered 33.8 percent average total day people audience share in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM) while ABS-CBN got 29.4 percent. The Network won in all day parts which include the morning, afternoon, and evening blocks.

GMA continued to dominate in key urban areas including Urban Luzon and Urban Visayas. The Network recorded 35.4 percent total day people audience share in Urban Luzon while its competitor posted 26.5 percent. In the recently-clinched Urban Visayas, GMA also posted a bigger lead with 35.9 percent versus rival network’s 32.5 percent.

With official data from March 1 to 21, the Network likewise won in Mega Manila with 37.7 percent total day people audience share, outscoring ABS-CBN’s 25.1 percent.

In the list of overall top-rating programs, “One At Heart With Jessica Soho” (“Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho”) is still the most watched program across the Philippines. Notably, GMA’s flagship newscast “24 Oras”, was the top nationwide news program.

Making it to the list of top-rating rating shows in March are primetime series “Descendants of the Sun” (The Philippine remake), “Hidden Lies”, “Love of My Life”; daytime series “Prima Donnas”; reruns of fantasy series “Encantadia” and “Heart and Soul”; weekly anthologies “My Fairy Grandmother”, “Pepito Manaloto”, “Forevermore” and “Daddy’s Gurl” and also infotainment show, “Amazing Earth”; talent reality show, “Centerstage” and variety shows, “Eat Bulaga” and “Wowowin Primetime”.
