Mediapro Group is implementing global company-wide contingency measures after its Chinese office was affected by the coronavirus pandemic. In a statement, the firm revealed one of its Chinese outposts had been hit by the virus, though it did not detail the extent to which employees in the territory had been impacted.

“The Mediapro Group has been preparing its response to the Covid-19 virus, protecting staff and implementing contingency plans which are allowing the group to continue provide its services,”  the statement begins.

According to the company, “the appearance of the virus in China affected the Mediapro base in the country but provided useful experience for the rest of the group to be fully prepared”. Therefore, Mediapro set up a cross departmental team to implement contingency plans for each business unit, and at the same time provide maximum information to its staff to help them take the appropriate safety measures.

“As a consequence, in just a few weeks, a remote back-up system has been implemented for play-out services which the group provides and which will be put in operation in the event of lock-down scenarios for the entire population with close to 90% of the group staff in Spain working from home,”  the statement says.

“In the studios and whilst filming extreme safety measures have been put in place. A detection protocol and follow-up system have been put in place for possible cases of infection. These protocols and contingency plans are being applied around the group in countries such as Argentina, the US and Colombia, where the infection is still in its initial phase,”  it concludes.
