"The Fashion Hero" hit brand has returned after five year with a new version, "The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful" hosted by the Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean. The program was launched in the last MIPCOM by Indigo Entertainment, global distributor of the reality competition series.

Produced by Beauty World Search, the new The Fashion Hero version (10x45’) was shot in South Africa. "I chose AJ McLean as host because he's a person from the heart, he's a good guy that had his troubles, and he understands what it is to go through bad things", said Caroline Bernier, President of Beauty World Search and Executive Producer of the reality series.

“I want to spread love and joy and happiness and tolerance and acceptance, and when I was asked to be the host of this show, and I found out the premise of the show, I was like, sign me up”, admitted AJ McLean. In "The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful" there were 200,000 applicants from 26 different countries coming from all walks of life, all different ages, different races and different genders coming together to go on a journey of self discovery, and to become the face of a brand. “It will be an honour to be the host for many seasons to come, we need more shows like this out there”, he affirmed.

Bernier stood out that in this time of age, "we need to celebrate uniqueness, we need to celebrate real people". She also mentioned there are brands that decide to take for one person from the show and make them the face of their brand for the advertising for a year. "That's what makes us unique", she affirmed.

In "The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful", a diverse mix of twenty-two contestants compete in the competition show designed to break traditional standards and define a new kind of beauty and the contestants are from 18 to 60 years old. "Everybody is welcome", asserted Bernier. "They don't have to have a bad story or good story, they just need to be themselves", she explained.

GLOBAL JOURNEY
When David Lawley, director of Indigo Entertainment, knew about "The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful" thought that it's a unique opportunity to combine both the glamorous world but also the world of people being more inspired and self development. "We will take our time to find the right partners, both in Latin America and Spain, not only for this series, but for the subsequent ones as the competition grows up", he said. The distributor is selling the program as a finished type as well as a format.
