In its latest study about SVOD demand in Argentina, Parrot Analytics revealed which were the most outstanding series in the country during December. The company contextualized each title within the market by stating the show's performance as a difference from the average demand for a series in the market. A difference of 1x represents the market average and 10x means a series is ten times more in demand than the average TV show in this market.

In the final month of 2020, the most in-demand digital original series in Argentina was Disney+'s “The Mandalorian”. The series premiered its second season at the end of October, and released episodes weekly until its season finale on December 18. It continuously grew in demand during this time and ended on a high with its final episode.

Demand for “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” another show in the franchise, was boosted by “The Mandalorian” airing new episodes. Despite “The Clone Wars” having concluded in May, character crossovers in “The Mandalorian” and spinoff show announcements have kept demand for this series high. It was the fifth most in-demand show in Argentina in December, with 16.3 times the demand of the average series.

“The Boys” was the most in-demand show in Argentina in October as it concluded its second season. However, it was knocked out of the top spot by an ascendent “Mandalorian” in November. Despite this, it has held steady in the number two spot into December, indicating lasting popularity for this Amazon Prime original in this market.

“Cobra Kai,” which released its third season on January 1, 2021, was the fourth most in-demand show in Argentina in December, ahead of its new season release. Anticipation for this show was high in Argentina, the market with the sixth highest demand for the show in the in the month before its season 3 release.

Lastly, “The Expanse” began airing episodes of its latest season on December 15, and it was the tenth most in-demand series in Argentina for the month of December, but Parrot expects it to rise in the rankings as it moves towards its season finale on February 3.
