CNN's long-term plan is to no longer rely on commissioned projects with outside partners. The decision was based primarily on the “ever-increasing cost of commissioning third-party premium content.”
Subscribers will now have access to 800 episodes of current and legacy programming at launch from the Peabody and Primetime Emmy Award-winning CNN Original Series and HLN Original Series library.
The service will be terminated on 30 April, just one month after launching. Its programming will now form part of a broader streaming catalog offered by Warner Bros Discovery.
CNN’s new streaming service CNN+ is under review by incoming corporate parent Warner Bros. Discovery as it looks to cut costs and reorganize the company.
