Cineflix Rights acquires Cream Productions’ "History of the Sitcom"

Cineflix Rights has extended its long-time collaboration CNN and Cream Productions with the acquisition of the eight-part CNN Original Series, "History of the Sitcom." The title will become available to international buyers at Mipcom 2022.

“'History of the Sitcom' reunites viewers with some of their favorite TV characters and storylines, while also exploring how sitcoms have reflected—and affected—cultural change over the years," Felicia Litovitz, VP Acquisitions, North America, Cineflix Rights who closed the deal with CNN said. The eight-part CNN Original Series features scores of original interviews with sitcom icons including Norman Lear, Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, Lisa Kudrow, Jason Alexander, Kelsey Grammer, Kim Fields, Tim Allen, Carl Reiner, Dick Van Dyke, George Lopez, Mel Brooks, Isabella Gomez, Ted Danson, Joey Soloway, Jimmie Walker, Judd Apatow, Dan Levy, Zooey Deschanel, Chuck Lorre, Mara Brock Akil, Helen Hunt, and many more.

The company's partnership with CNN also includes worldwide distribution rights for previous CNN Original Series "The Story of Late Night" and "The History of Comedy," which have sold around the world to platforms in multiple territories including the UK, Australia, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Canada, Italy, Ireland, and Sweden.
