"Building Bad"
Cineflix Rights has closed multiple deals with international broadcasters for recent true crime, travel, and food titles from its expanding catalogue. Let’s now take a closer look at each of them.
"Building Bad" (10x60’, Shark Teeth Films, for Crave, Canada), which combines engineering, science, and crime to reveal the ingenuity and twisted genius of enterprising criminals who walk the dark side of scientific invention, has been acquired by Viasat for its Nordic and CEE platforms. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery has picked up the series for its Benelux platforms. Also, TV4 (Sweden) has bought Seasons 4–6 of "Killer Cases" (34x60’, Law&Crime Productions for True Crime Network, US), which weaves together first-hand interviews and gripping footage from some of the US’ most chilling murder trials.
In addition, SBS Viceland (Australia), Max (Benelux), TV4 (Sweden), YLE (Finland), and NRK (Norway) have all acquired "Sue Perkins into Alaska" (3x60’, Chalkboard TV and GroupM Motion Entertainment for Channel 5, UK), which follows the beloved comedian and TV presenter on a daring adventure at the edge of civilization as she puts herself to the test and heads way off the beaten track to explore the state’s rich history, culture, and communities. Moreover, the series has also been acquired by the BBC for Poland, as well as for its pan-African and pan-Asian services.
SBS Food (Australia) has also picked up "Dermot’s Taste of Ireland" (5x60’, for ITV1, UK), which follows the TV and radio presenter as he ventures back to his family’s home country on a gastronomic tour to discover its delicious secrets. Additionally, the broadcaster has acquired "The Big Irish Food Tour" (15x30’, Below The Radar for BBC, UK), in which Dublin-born celebrity chef Anna Haugh heads home to explore the Emerald Isle’s unique culture and cuisine.
Elsewhere, DR (Denmark), YLE (Finland), and SBS for its AVOD platform SBS On Demand (Australia) have bought "An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet" (6x60’, Cream Productions for Crave, Canada and Bloomberg, International). Hosted by explorer and Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the series is a round-the-world adventure exploring the brighter side of climate change.
