Iris Knobloch, the long-serving President of WarnerMedia in France, Benelux, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, is leaving the company to pursue an unspecified “new challenge”.
The combined establishment will go by the name of Warner Bros. Discovery. The conglomerates’ decision to join forces will allow them to increase investment and capabilities in original programming, create more opportunity for under-represented creatives and independent creators and serve innovative content.
The merger will allow WarnerMedia and Discovery to join forces, leap over ViacomCBS, and close the gap with Disney in the increasingly competitive battle for audience demand.
The service also announced various new original series, content premieres and advertising debuts at this year’s Warnermedia upfront. The new ad-supported tier, set to go live the first week of June.
Companies such as NBCUniversal, Fox, Discovery, Univision, Disney and WarnerMedia made presentations and advanced their main programming news, this year in a virtual way.
