Set in 1979 Spain, “Hot Stuff” blends comedy and social critique with international appeal, featuring top Icelandic talent. The series has been commissioned by Icelandic media company SÝN, with Oble acquiring global distribution rights.
HBO Max expands to 12 new countries in July, including Iceland, Georgia, and Malta. Warner Bros. Discovery ended the first quarter of 2025 with 122.3 million streaming subscribers, reflecting an increase of 5.3 million from the previous quarter.
It´s a co-production between CBS Studios and Icelandic production company Truenorth for Icelandic broadcaster Síminn, with Stampede Ventures also serving as executive producers. Paramount Global Content Distribution oversees the series' distribution outside of Iceland.
