Screen Australia’s 33rd annual Drama Report released today shows the second highest expenditure ever on scripted screen production in Australia, with $2.34 billion spent across a record 213 titles in 2022/23.
The executive will formally commence as CEO from 8 January 2024, taking over the reins from Graeme Mason, who is departing the agency in early November after a decade in the role.
The Australian screen industry employed approximately 55.000 people and contributed over $6 billion in valued-added to the Australian economy in 2021/22, according to the latest survey from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).
Overall $2.29 billion was spent across 162 drama screen productions that commenced production or post production in Australia in 2021/22 compared to $1.94 billion spent across 163 productions in 2020/21.
