According to Mediavision, 25% of all 15-74-year-olds in the Nordics downloaded or illegally streamed films, series or live sports in the last month, 400,000 more than the previous month.
This interest is also obvious in households subscribing to a paid streaming service, SVOD. Half of the Nordic SVOD households say they are willing to pay extra for a bigger supply of local movies and series.
According to figures recently published by Mediavision, illegal downloading and streaming of films and series have increased in Sweden for the second straight year.
The appetite for Nordic content is increasing during the holidays, although the demand for local content is higher than the supply, according to Mediavision.
Piracy still poses a problem to the video industry in the Nordics. In fact, according to new figures from Mediavision, the number of pirates in the region has even increased compared to last year.
