ABACUS MEDIA SECURES GLOBAL SALES FOR “NIKE’S BIG BET” DOCUMENTARY

The 84-minute feature film, titled “Nike’s Big Bet: Alberto Salazar and the Fine Line of Sport,” was produced by Paul Kemp Productions and Cream Films, in partnership with the Globe and Mail. It has been acquired by Sky in the UK, DR in Denmark, Channel Hot8 in Israel, WATCHA in South Korea, and CANAL+ in Poland, among several others.

Abacus Media Rights has secured sales for the 84-minute feature documentary Nike’s Big Bet: Alberto Salazar and the Fine Line of Sport produced by Paul Kemp Productions and Cream Films, in partnership with the Globe and Mail. “With the delayed Olympics set to run later in the year, this is a timely feature documentary which reveals the shocking downfall of one of the most high-profile coaches in the world. It’s must-see factual television,"  Managing Director of AMR, Jonathan Ford, said.

The investigative and provocative documentary, directed by multi-award-winning producer Paul Kemp, also available as a 60-minute version, has been acquired by Sky in the UK, DR in Denmark, Channel Hot8 in Israel, WATCHA in South Korea, CANAL+ in Poland and Nordic Entertainment Group in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Baltics. CBC in Canada and ZDF/Arte in Germany and France also acquired the film.

It was produced/executively produced by Corey Russell, intended to reveal the story of one of the globally acclaimed Alberto Salazar, who was found guilty of evading related violations, leading to a four-year band. Salazar’s stabled record and success faded, leading to disaossication from his colleagues.

The film will caputure all perspectives from Nike and Salazar, as well as the athletes and those steeped in the sport who believe a line was crossed. Many drug tests later, none of the athletes have ever tested positive to date. The bottom line was that the US Anti-Doping Association, had rendered its verdict leading to Salazar's explusion and The Nike Oregon Project being disbanded. Two weeks later the CEO of Nike, Mark Parker, also departed.
