Independent distributor All3Media International has added another new format adaptation to the “Snackmasters” line-up, as Belgian broadcaster RTL TVI has launched its own local version of the BAFTA-nominated Optomen Television series. Produced by Belgian independent producer Lecter Media and airing locally as “Snackmasters, la recette secrete,” the series sees top chefs battling it out to recreate the nation’s favourite snacks.

“Snackmasters” is also heading to Australia, with the production of a local version announced at Nine Network’s 2022 Upfronts. The series will be produced by Warner Bros International Television Production and will be hosted by Scott Pickett, Poh Ling Yeow with Yvie Jones.

Optomen Television’s original UK version, which airs on Channel 4, is now in its second season, and was nominated for a BAFTA TV Award in 2020. The series is hosted by renowned maître d' Fred Sirieix and comedian Jayde Adams.

“We’re delighted to see such a flurry of activity for ‘Snackmasters’ on the global stage – it’s a fantastic format that really flips the traditional culinary show on its head. It isn’t about top chefs showing us their own gourmet creations, it’s about them stepping out of their comfort zones and attempting to understand the secrets behind the foods that we enjoy every day.  Everyone, no matter where they are in the world, has a go-to snack, so we know viewers will enjoy seeing if their country’s top chefs can recreate the magic of their own favourite treats,”  commented Nick Smith, EVP Formats at All3Media International.

Offering a cooking challenge like no other, each episode of “Snackmasters” sees two of the country’s greatest fine-dining chefs battling it out to make perfect replicas of one of the nation’s best-loved snacks, from classic candies to fast-food favourites. With nothing to help them other than limitless supplies of the snack and their taste buds, can they work out the genius behind these seemingly simple snacks?
