APC SOLD DRAMA SERIES "SHADOW LINES" WORLDWIDE

Boutique co-producer and distributor About Premium Content (APC) has signed major broadcast deals for season one of its hit Cold War drama series "Shadow Lines". A second season of the spy thriller has been commissioned by Elisa Viihde and is currently in development.

APC has secured a raft of deals for the series including sales to AMC Networks’ streaming service Sundance Now in the US, Canada and UK, SBS in Australia, Viasat World’s Epic Drama Channel across Central & Eastern Europe, Baltics and CIS, RTP2 in Portugal, Proximus in Belgium, AMC’s Sundance TV in Spain and in Switzerland both public broadcaster RTS and cable channel UPC.

Produced by Zodiak Finland for Finnish streaming service Elisa Viihde, "Shadow Lines" (10 x 45’) is a period spy thriller written by mother and daughter team Kirsti Manninen and Katri Manninen and directed by AJ Annila and Alli Haapasalo. The first season of the mixed-language series (Finnish/English/Russian) was broadcast in October 2019.

In the 1950s, the hottest spot of the Cold War was not Washington or Moscow, but Helsinki, where the KGB and CIA vied for control of Finland, a small Nordic country wedged between the powers of the East and West. Shadow Lines season one follows Helena, a student freshly returned from the United States, being recruited by her godfather to join a top-secret Finnish task force in its ongoing missions: preventing the two global powerhouses meddling in the presidential election and keeping their homeland independent.

But, as she begins to discover the truth about her past, her personal and professional lives collide. With long-kept secrets and political agendas coming to a head, the team must overcome lies and distrust if they have any chance of succeeding.
