From the makers of “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy,” the BBC has acquired the Emmy-nominated CNN Original series “Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico" for BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. The six-part series follows the award-winning actress, producer, and director Eva Longoria as she explores the culinary culture in the lands of her ancestors to see how Mexico’s landscape and history have helped shape one of the most diverse and exciting cuisines in the world.

The show, which starts on October 8 on BBC Two and iPlayer, sees Longoria visit a different region to show how ancient meets modern in Mexico’s cuisine, and how significant each region’s food is to its culture. Her culinary discoveries from each stop on her tour tell stories that span centuries, of dishes exported across the world, and of cultural legacies that run through generations.

Longoria takes the audience to her second home, Mexico City, to show how the city is constantly evolving. Her visit to Oaxaca blends the beautiful mountainous Mexican landscapes with world-class, world-renowned ingredients, and her voyages across Veracruz, the port between Mexico and the rest of the world, show how the flavours and passion of the city have reached well beyond Mexican borders.

“As a Mexican-American, this show allowed me to connect with my roots in a profound way, exploring the rich culinary heritage of the land of my ancestors. Through this journey, I discovered the magic that lies within Mexican cuisine, where history, culture, and flavor converge. I cannot wait to share the stories, traditions, and the incredible diversity of Mexican food with audiences on BBC Two and iPlayer. It is a celebration of Mexico's culinary legacy, and I hope it inspires everyone to embark on their own culinary adventures,"  Eva Longoria said.

The series was produced by CNN Original Series and London-based film and television production company RAW. The team also brought Stanley Tucci’s voyages across Italy to global audiences in the two-time Primetime Emmy Award-winning “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy,” which is streaming now on BBC iPlayer.

“We are delighted to be bringing viewers another unforgettable culinary exploration with the brilliant Eva Longoria guiding us through the vibrant flavours of Mexico,”  commented Jo Lapping, Head of Factual Acquisition at BBC.
