Banijay Entertainment has confirmed that the South Korean survival reality format “Bloody Game,” originally created by MBC, has now officially completed its rollout across all four Nordic markets with the commission of a Finnish version produced by Banijay Finland for MTV3. This development marks a significant regional milestone for the format, which has rapidly gained momentum following record-breaking launches in Norway and Denmark, delivered by Mastiff Norway and Nordisk Film & TV Denmark respectively. The recently announced Swedish adaptation, produced by Meter/Jarowskij for SVT, further underscored its growth trajectory.
Tatu Ferchen, CEO of Banijay Finland, commented: “'Bloody Game' is a bold, psychologically charged concept and we’ve seen first-hand the proven strength in a market dominated by big-name reality brands. Packed with suspense and strategy, it is a great example of how innovation can cut through.”
Helen Greatorex, Head of Format Acquisitions at Banijay Entertainment, added: “'Bloody Game' has hit a cultural nerve in the Nordics, and completing the roll-out in Finland highlights the format’s adaptability and appeal. We’ve seen it outperform the competitors in the region, and this is testament not only to the format’s impact and scale, but also our creative teams on the ground. With strong momentum and interest across our labels, we expect further deals to follow.”
In both Norway and Denmark, “Bloody Game” has emerged as a breakout streaming success on TV2 Play and TV2 Echo, outpacing several well-established franchises among key demographic groups. In its home market, the series has already completed three seasons on Wavve, South Korea’s OTT platform, where it became one of the top subscriber drivers thanks to its nail-biting storytelling and intense psychological gameplay.
The format pits a group of highly strategic contestants against one another in a high-stakes competition to outwit, outlast, and outplay their rivals while confined in a secretive house cut off from the outside world. With alliances, conspiracies, psychological warfare, and physical challenges shaping each twist, only one player emerges victorious with a grand cash prize.
Banijay Entertainment represents the “Bloody Game” format across nine European territories, including France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the full Nordic region. The successful launch in Finland cements the format’s adaptability and appeal across diverse local markets.
Banijay Finland’s broader unscripted portfolio includes high-profile hits such as “Survivor Suomi” and “Temptation Island,” along with scripted series like “Murder in Hanko” and “Supporting Actor,” reinforcing the company’s reputation for delivering formats that resonate both locally and internationally.
