Blue Ant Studios announced a new slate of original commissions from global wildlife and nature brand Love Nature, which it will showcase at Sunny Side of the Doc. The studio will oversee international licensing and pre-sales for a selection of recently greenlit premium natural history series that highlight the diversity and depth of Love Nature’s curated content lineup. Developed by some of the most acclaimed producers in the genre, the new titles include "Animal Crowds" from Bonne Pioche, "The Philippines" from Terra Mater, and two distinctive productions from WildBear Entertainment: "Boss Shark: Battle of the Sexes" and season two of "Planet Weird."

“Our company’s overall presence at Sunny Side is a great example of how Blue Ant collaborates across its production, distribution, and global channels businesses,” said Mark Bishop, Co-President of Blue Ant Studios. “We’re unveiling a strong slate of entertaining and compelling natural history content at Sunny Side of the Doc in partnership with our colleagues at Love Nature.”

“These newly announced greenlights reflect the wide spectrum of modern wildlife production that Love Nature has become known for over the last decade,” added Alison Barrat, SVP, Head of Content, Love Nature. “Now celebrating ten years, Love Nature is enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people around the globe. Our premium-quality wildlife programming is created by some of the most celebrated and respected natural history producers worldwide.”

Blue Ant Studios and Love Nature’s presence at Sunny Side of the Doc includes co-sponsoring and moderating the Nature & Environment Pitch, as well as leading the panel "New Routes to Wildlife Storytelling."

"Animal Crowds," produced by Bonne Pioche Télévision in co-production with ARTE GEIE, is a three-part series exploring the behavior of animals that live, migrate, and interact in vast groups—whether herds, flocks, swarms, or colonies. Driven by evolutionary needs such as reproduction, climate adaptation, feeding, and protection, these crowd dynamics also reflect on human society, questioning whether our collective behavior is inherited from deeper biological instincts. With stunning visuals and behavioral analysis, the series, from the producers of "The March of the Penguins," blends cinematic natural history with provocative social commentary.

"The Philippines," a two-part series produced by Terra Mater in association with Catkin Media Production and Doclights, offers a spectacular look at the archipelago’s unique ecological makeup. Formed by volcanic activity over millions of years, the islands sit at the heart of the Coral Triangle, offering unmatched marine and terrestrial biodiversity. Viewers will journey through rainforests, mountain ranges, and deep ocean trenches, discovering the extraordinary wildlife that calls these environments home.

"Boss Shark: Battle of the Sexes," a one-hour documentary produced by WildBear Entertainment in collaboration with Discovery, revisits the fascinating social dynamics of great white sharks. While males are often more aggressive, females are larger—raising the question of dominance in this apex predator species. Experts Dr. Riley Elliott and Kori Burkhardt assess sharks through various strength and agility challenges, offering viewers rare, high-action footage as they attempt to crown the true “boss” of the ecosystem.

"Planet Weird Season 2," also from WildBear Entertainment, returns with six new episodes diving into some of nature’s most bizarre and unlikely creatures. With a distinctive visual style and tongue-in-cheek humor, the series combines pop culture flair with engaging science. Narrated by celebrity comedian Ross Noble, each episode takes audiences into the extremes of the animal kingdom, offering stories that are as hilarious as they are mind-bending.

Together, these series reinforce Blue Ant Studios’ and Love Nature’s commitment to bringing innovative, high-quality wildlife storytelling to global audiences while highlighting the increasingly collaborative and international nature of the natural history production landscape.
