Blue Ant Studios recently entered a scripted format development deal with Add Content to co-produce and co-develop the North American adaptation of “The First Family." “We’re excited to be working with ADD Content and HOT to adapt this wonderful property,” said Eva Miller, VP of Scripted Development, Blue Ant Studios.
Originally commissioned and aired by Israel’s HOT, the two companies make the local version of the original Israeli series co-created by Shachar Magan and Noa Rotman, granddaughter of former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, which was originally produced by Koda Communications for HOT. “HOT proves once again that quality content knows no boundaries and takes another step forward in its quest to put Israeli content at the forefront of the global market,” Nadav Hanin, VP of Content and Innovation at HOT, said. “We are extremely excited to collaborate with Blue Ant Studios on ‘The First Family.’”
The deal with Blue Ant Studios continues to ADD Content’s reputation for taking Israeli drama onto the international stage, following previous scripted formats deals including selling “Euphoria” to HBO for a remake starring Zendaya, which has recently been commissioned for a third season, as well as other titles, such as “The Kids in the Hall: Comedy Punks” for Prime Video, set to debut at SXSW in March 2022, “Epstein’s Shadow: Ghislaine Maxwell” for Peacock and Sky, “Canada’s Drag Race” seasons 1 and 2 for Crave, and the Daytime Emmy Award-winning series “The Healing Powers of Dude” for Netflix.
Inspired by real experiences, the show explores the household and personal relations surrounding the country’s Prime Minister’s family as they face leaving their comfortable life and moving into a heavily guarded house with a whole new world of pressures and scrutiny. “‘The First Family’ comes with all the juicy inter-family politics that make for great drama, while also offering a chance to explore class and the complicated relationship between private and public identities that resonates so deeply with today’s society," Miller continued.
Every member of the Prime Minister’s family – his wife, his daughter, and his son, now must cope with being under the spotlight and the expectations of playing roles they’re dramatically ill-equipped to play. “With familial dramas enjoying international popularity, ‘The First Family’ is ripe for a local reimagining,” Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, Founder and Head of International at ADD Content, said. “We have incredibly creative and talented partners in Blue Ant Studios who share our ambition for this dynamic, intensely gripping show.”
