The Canada Media Fund has released details of the Development Pilot Program – Experienced Producers to support projects in the development stage by experienced producers where no Canadian broadcaster is attached.

The total amount of funding available in the program is $3M, divided on a 2/3 English and 1/3 French basis. Eligible projects must be in the Drama, Children & Youth, or Documentary genres.

Applicants will be able to apply with a maximum of one eligible project and funding will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The CMF’s maximum contribution for each project will be a match of the project’s non-CMF financing in the submitted and approved financial structure, up to a cap of $100,000.

To be considered an Experienced Producer, applicants must have a minimum threshold of Qualifying Projects in the past five-year period. The minimum threshold differs based on language and genre and Qualifying Projects are those that have been CMF funded.
