Canadian production company Connect3 Media (C3 Media), part of the Cineflix Media group of companies, has appointed Jason Simms to the newly created role of Managing Director, as the company builds on recent successes in scripted and unscripted co-productions for global broadcasters and streaming platforms. Working closely with C3’s President, Pablo Salzman, Simms will focus on growing the company’s slate through working in partnership with creatives, existing IP rightsholders, and commissioning executives worldwide to identify and develop new content, utilising a range of financing models including international co-productions and presales.

Pablo Salzman, President, C3 Media said: “C3’s success is built on bringing together talented creative people to develop, finance, and produce successful shows for the global market. Jason’s experience, skills and personality fit right into this model, and his joining the team will expand the business and help greenlight more fantastic content.”

“Pablo and the C3 team have already built a fantastic track record in developing, producing and delivering highly distinctive, premium scripted and non-scripted projects to international partners. Shows like So Long, Marianne and Kings of Coke highlight C3’s creative ambition, nimble deal-making and globally-facing outlook. I am delighted to be joining the business at such an exciting stage in its journey, and really looking forward to helping Pablo and the team grow the slate, develop new relationships, and take the company to the next level,” Jason Simms added.

Simms will join C3 in early November, from Sky Studios, where in his role as Director, International Scripted Programming, he was responsible for international partnerships and commercial strategy for Sky Studios’ slate of high-end dramas and comedies from the UK, Italy and Germany, developing third-party scripted original dramas for international platforms, and managing production and distribution relationships. He previously served as Director of Drama and Comedy for Sky Vision, where he was responsible for driving editorial strategy and investment in its scripted slate, negotiating distribution deals for all incoming TV series, as well as securing partnerships with producers using a variety of financing models. Prior to Sky, Simms was Senior Vice President, Global Acquisitions, Fox Network Group, closing deals for marquee series such as The Walking Dead, Dexter, The Wire, and Breaking Bad.

C3’s current and recent productions include "So Long, Marianne," the hotly anticipated drama series for Crave and NRK inspired by the legendary love story of Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen; dramedy "Good Morning Chuck" (and The Art of Harm Reduction) for Crave, which was a Canneseries 2023 Official Selection; feature-length thriller "Sugar" for Prime Video and ZDF; and premium true crime documentaries "Kings of Coke and Cocaine, Around the World with 30 Kilos" for Crave. The company is currently in development and production on new scripted and unscripted content for broadcasters and platforms worldwide.
