In a landmark move for Korean content in Latin America, CJ ENM has partnered with Mexico’s Imagen Televisión to launch the country’s first dedicated prime-time K-Drama slot on free-to-air TV. Beginning in May, Mexican audiences will enjoy a selection of CJ ENM’s most successful dramas, including “Encounter,” “Goblin (Guardian: The Lonely and Great God),” “Emergency Couple,” “Reply 1997,” and “Another Miss Oh.”
The partnership marks a key milestone in CJ ENM’s strategy to expand its footprint across Latin America through localized distribution and strategic alliances. With the growing global demand for K-Dramas, this initiative brings some of Korea’s most iconic series to mainstream Mexican viewers during prime-time hours.
Sebastián Trujillo, Managing Director of CJ ENM Mexico, emphasized the significance of this launch: “This partnership with Imagen Televisión is a crucial step in our mission to introduce the best of Korean storytelling to Latin American audiences. These dramas offer universal themes, emotional depth, and high production value that resonate globally—and now, directly with Mexican viewers.”
Martín Pulido, Programming Director at Imagen Televisión, highlighted how this collaboration aligns with the network’s content strategy: “At Imagen Televisión, we are committed to offering diverse and high-quality programming. Korean dramas have proven their success worldwide, and we believe they will captivate our audience in Mexico. Partnering with CJ ENM allows us to innovate in our prime-time slot with fresh, engaging stories that connect across cultures.”
The prime-time block will debut with “Encounter,” a romantic drama starring Song Hye-kyo and Park Bo-gum, followed by other internationally acclaimed titles. The curated selection reflects CJ ENM’s focus on delivering content that blends cultural authenticity with universal appeal.
This initiative follows the recent establishment of CJ ENM Mexico, the company’s regional hub aimed at driving growth through co-productions, partnerships, and content distribution across Spanish-speaking markets. The collaboration with Imagen Televisión is expected to strengthen CJ ENM’s position as a leading provider of Korean content in Latin America.
By securing a consistent presence on free-to-air television, CJ ENM is not only expanding access to its rich IP portfolio but also fostering deeper cultural exchange. The success of this prime-time slot could open doors for future collaborations, signaling a new era for K-Drama visibility in the region’s competitive media landscape.
