South Korea’s CJ ENM has appointed Sebastian Kim as the new Director of its Seoul-based global sales and acquisition vision. The producer and distributor has employed over 3,600 individuals across its Asian, European, and US entertainment and lifestyle-related regional offices. “In a time where the world is fascinated by Korean stories, I am thrilled to join the content distribution arm to expand the reach of our content with global partners,” said Kim in a statement.

Kim is set to report to Jangho Seo, SVP of the content business, and will serve as head of CJ ENM’s finished content sales, including to global outlets such as Netflix, VIU, and iQIYI. Kim will also oversee content acquisition from large studios for CJ ENM basic and premium pay channels.

Kim has over  15 years of experience working with content sale strategies, client management, and business development. He initially joined CJ ENM in 2007, covering the worldwide market, including tvN Asia and tvN Movies. He is credited with widely expanding the company’s partnerships and local platforms.

Kim’s promotion arrived shortly after CJ ENM sold three dramas, produced by its Studio Dragon outfit for broadcast and adaptations in Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines. Some of the titles the company has worked on include director Bong Joon Ho’s Oscar-winning “Parasite,” “Kinky Boots,” “Extreme Job and Ode To My Father,” “Mr. Sunshine,” “Grandpas Over Flowers” and “I Can See Your Voice.”
