Korean media group CJ ENM announced a partnership with Taipei-based Central Motion Pictures and Deepwaters Digital Support to co-produce an island-culture-based scripted series in Taiwan’s Kinmen islands in 2023, which will be supported by Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA).

The series will be a remake of a popular CJ ENM format, aimed at showcasing Taiwan and Kinmen’s scenery and cultural heritage to a global audience. The collaboration is scheduled to commence production in the second half of 2023.

“CJ ENM Hong Kong has been actively expanding its local language productions for the global streaming audience in recent years. We are very encouraged by the warm reception towards our first two Taiwan-collaborated Mandarin-scripted original series ‘Mum, Don’t Do That’ and ‘The Amazing Grace of Σ,’ which premiered this year,”  commented Michael Jung, Managing Director of CJ ENM Hong Kong.

“Taiwan’s drama series has boomed tremendously in recent years, with the quality of content and appeal continuing to reach new heights. The biggest advantage of Taiwanese film and television business lies in its rich creativity and freedom of expression, as well as relatively reasonable production costs,”  CJ ENM added in a statement.

“Central Motion Pictures Corporation’s film studio in Wai Shuangxi and Central Taiwan Film Studios in Wufeng have been upgraded to production specifications required by international broadcasting platforms and large-scale film production. This cooperation project with CJ ENM Hong Kong is only the first step and we look forward to more in-depth cooperation between the two parties in the future,”  declared Paul Yang, General Manager at Deepwaters.
