Curious Films recently welcomed TV executive Kim Shillinglaw as a Non-Executive Director. The appointment was made as the company looks to capitalize on recent commissions and increase its growth rate over the next year. “Kim’s expertise and vast experience will be invaluable as we capitalise on recent wins and position the company for accelerated growth over the next 12 months," Dov Freedman, Co-Founder, Curious Films said. "One of our key objectives, alongside expanding our existing work for UK and international broadcasters and streamers is building returning series brands – like Squad Goals – and Charlie and I couldn’t be prouder that Kim has agreed to come on board and help us achieve this.”

Shillinglaw has more than three decades of experience in the media industry, running commercial production companies for EndemolShine, as Controller of BBC2 and BBC4, and in a variety of commissioning roles. At EndemolShine, she led commercial companies from loss to profit and tripling turnover ahead of a successful trade sale. Across her career Shillinglaw has commissioned hits as varied as Frozen Planet, Horrible Histories, Blue Planet II, The Real Marigold Hotel, Muslims Like Us, Exodus and Inside The Factory to name just a handful.

The executive joins as the company orders from BBC3 and Insight TV to produce a third season of its women’s football documentary brand. As a result, "Squad Goals 3: Dorking Til I Die"will air later this year as the channel returns to a linear schedule.

Alongside Squad Goals, Curious Films’ recent commissions include Reclaiming Amy (BBC2), which was the most watched music documentary ever on BBC iPlayer, "Caroline Flack: Her Life & Death" (Channel 4), and "The People vs Climate Change" on BBC iPlayer. The company is currently in production on a range of major projects for UK broadcasters and international streamers.“Curious Films is in an exciting position at the moment, with a growing reputation for films that are great watches and stand out from the crowd. I love their commitment to quality entertainment and think there’s a real opportunity to keep growing with the talented team led by Dov and Charlie," Kim Shillinglaw said.
