Escapade Media announces a new agreement with StoryFirst and Niche Media after MIPCOM 2023 where it released the first two titles, "Debriefing the President" that soon to enter production and "Portobello Road". The third title, "Dancing Daggers" (10x60’) to be released at the London Screenings, further underlines StoryFirst’s ethos to produce prestigious content for TV.

The series, written and created by the Burgos Brothers, tells the story of a young woman lies dead in a seedy motel. Heavy snowfalls have blocked all entrances and exits, meaning the murderer is trapped inside. A grizzled, world-weary detective and his young idealistic partner are called in to investigate the crime. But the victim isn’t any young woman – she’s the strong-willed and beloved Elven Princess…The hotel is no usual establishment – it’s a tavern on the border of two long-warring kingdoms, a labyrinthine place full of as many secrets and dangers as its inhabitants… And the detective is no normal cop. He’s a powerful wizard who uses his magic to solve murders across the kingdoms.

Natalie Lawley, Escapade Media MD comments: “This title could not have a higher pedigree of creative talent behind it. It’s incredible to be working with this team. The Burgos Brothers have created a series that merges the ongoing successful 'Murder-Mystery' genre with the fantasy world resulting in this smart, fantastical character driven drama. We can’t wait to discuss this series with our clients.”

"Dancing Daggers" showrunner is Kim Newton ("Big Shot"), directed by Adam Kane ("American Gods") and executive produced by Kane, Court Five’s Mark Ordesky ("The Lord of the Rings Trilogy") and Jane Fleming ("The Quest") alongside Chukwudi Iwuji ("The Split"). The series will star Chukwudi as King Arryn and Vinnie Jones as Og The Ogre. The series also reunites Ordesky with New Zealand’s Oscar-winning Wētā Workshop, who will provide the world building for this new fantasy adventure.

StoryFirst’s Peter Gerwe states: “We could not be more excited to be working with this talented team on a new IP with such amazing potential. The sky is the limit with a format that is endlessly returnable and a world that will be built out with some of the strongest talent in the space.”
