Deep Fusion Films to produce racing driver James Hunt's documentary

Broadcast production company and AI specialist Deep Fusion Films, has entered into an exclusive creative partnership with the James Hunt Estate on the production of "Hunt: We Need to Talk About James" (1x90), which will offer an unprecedentedly intimate look at the life and legacy of the man who helped define the glamour and danger of Formula One, both on and off the track.

Benjamin Field, co-founder of Deep Fusion Films, said: "James Hunt’s story is not just captivating for motorsports fans — it’s also the saga of a man who lived fiercely and on his own terms. 'Hunt: We Need to Talk About James' will paint a portrait of James that goes far beyond his public persona to reveal the private trials, tribulations and triumphs that made him a Formula One icon whose influence on both his sport and popular culture endures to this day.”

James Hunt’s well-publicised reputation as a playboy, adrenaline junkie and Golden Boy of motorsports made him enormously popular with the public and ensured a constant stream of sensational headlines. However, his outrageous behaviour and ‘live fast, die young’ attitude went down less well with the Formula One establishment, who accused him of bringing the sport into disrepute. Promising to separate the myths from the misconceptions, "Hunt: We Need to Talk About James" will give an unflinchingly honest account of the man his friend and rival Niki Lauda described as “the most charismatic personality who’s ever been in Formula One”.

It’s about understanding him more than judging; about celebrating the depth beyond the fast cars and flashy lifestyle. Featuring never-before-seen archive and exclusive interviews with friends, family and Formula One luminaries, "Hunt: We Need to Talk About James" will be directed by Benjamin Field and is due to commence shooting in the fourth quarter of 2024. The film, shot mostly on locations across the UK, will feature unseen interviews with F1 legends Niki Lauda and Mika Hakkinen and will be produced by Benjamin Field, Jamie Anderson & Freddie Hunt.
