CoComelon
Disney Plus will become the new home of CoComelon outside of YouTube starting in 2027, according to Bloomberg. All eight seasons will move over from Netflix, which has hosted the wildly popular kids’ show since 2020.The move comes amid declining viewership for CoComelon, which reportedly dropped by nearly 60% in recent years.
The show, once among the top five most-watched programs across all streaming platforms in 2023, failed to reach the top 10 in 2024. Still, the deal is expected to be financially significant, with Disney reportedly committing tens of millions annually for the rights. The transition also aligns with the release of the show’s first theatrical film, scheduled for 2027 under Universal.
While CoComelon migrates to Disney+, other Moonbug Entertainment titles such as Blippi and CoComelon Lane will remain on Netflix. According to the platform, the first season of CoComelon Lane surpassed 50 million views in the second half of 2024—outperforming any season of the main series. Netflix also stated that children’s content comprises about 15% of its overall audience.
The show shares production roots with Bluey, another international animated hit, which may suggest a similar brand expansion strategy on Disney+. The streaming deal reportedly includes future seasons and global SVOD rights to Little Angel, a popular spinoff in Latin America.
