" I, Jack Wright"
Federation International, the distribution arm of Federation Studios, has signed a new wave of major deals for the 6 x 45’ high-end thrilling drama series "I, Jack Wright", written by Chris Lang ("Unforgotten," "The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe") and produced by Federation Stories, led by Polly Williams.
"I, Jack Wright" has recently been picked up by ABC in Australia, HBO Max in France and Central and Eastern Europe, NPO in the Netherlands, Nova in Greece, Movistar in Spain, RTS in Switzerland, and PCCW in Hong Kong. These new sales add to the growing list of deals and pre-sales already secured for the UKTV/BBC series. In the US, the series recently launched on the BBC-owned streaming platform BritBox, as a BritBox original.
Other pre-sales included SVT (Sweden), RUV (Iceland), NRK (Norway), DR (Denmark), and YLE (Finland), as well as Belgium, where channel RTBF also participated as a co-producer. The series has achieved record-breaking ratings in the US, ranking among BritBox’s top five original series based on viewership. In Finland, where the series also premiered, the first episode was the most-watched of the entire week on YLE Areena.
The press has praised the show for its sharp writing and outstanding cast, which includes Trevor Eve, Gemma Jones, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and John Simm, portraying members of a wealthy British family unraveling in the wake of their patriarch’s shocking apparent suicide.
Jack Wright is a powerful and successful businessman whose sudden suicide leaves his family in turmoil. When the contents of Jack’s final will and testament are revealed, his third wife, Sally, and two sons, Gray and John, are horrified to find they have been largely excluded from Jack’s vast fortune. As DCI Morgan and DC Jones dig deeper into the case, they uncover that Jack’s death was in fact murder. Suspicion quickly falls on the Wright family, where an all-out war is brewing. As each family member grows more reckless and desperate in their bid for a share of Jack’s legacy, long-buried secrets and resentments come to light—with explosive consequences.
