Series Mania
Series Mania 2024 had a fantastic week in Lille, both at the festival and at Series Mania Forum. The French event exceeded 98,000 spectators - a 15% increase on last year. As for the Forum, 4,200 professionals from 72 countries gathered at Lille Grand Palais. This year, new countries participated at the festival (Latvia, New Zealand, South Africa, Taiwan), as well as international stars such as Patricia Arquette, Jeremy Irons, Kelly Rutherford, Michael Chiklis, aand Peter Mullan.
Next year, Series Mania Festival will be held on March 21-28, and Series Mania Forum on March 25-27, 2025.
THE WINNERS
In the International Competition, the Grand Prize was for "Rematch" (France/Hungary), produced by Unité, Arte France, Federation Studios, Proton and Distributed by Federation Studios. The Best Writing award was for Thomas Wendrich for "Herrhausen - The Banker And The Bomb" (Germany) globally distributed by Fremantle; Annette Bening won the Best Actress award for "Apples Never Fall" (Australia, USA) globally sold by NBCuniversal Global TV Distribution and Kamel El Basha took the Best Actor award for "House Of Gods" (Australia) worldwide distributed by NBCuniversal Global TV Distribution.
INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA
The International Panorama awarded 4 prizes among the 12 series presented in French, European, and world previews. The Best Series prize was for "Dates In Real Life" (Norway), produced by Maipo Film and with Dynamic Television as global distributor. The Best Directing prize was for Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo for "La Mesías" (Spain), produced by Movistar Plus+, Suma Content and distributed by Movistar Plus+.
The Best Actress award was for Robyn Malcolm in "After The Party" (Australia, New -Zealand), produced by Lingo Pictures, Luminous Beast and distributed by ITV Studios, and Best Actor award was taken by Kārlis Arnolds Avots in "Soviet Jeans" (Latvia) produced by Tasse Films and distributed by BETA FILM. Furthermore, a student jury also awarded its prize: "La Mesías" (Spain).
FRENCH COMPETITION
The jury awarded 4 prizes among the 6 French series presented in World Premiere in the presence of their teams. "Machine" has taken the Best Series prize. It's produced by 687, Fit Production, White Lion Films, Makwa, Arte France and Distributed by Mediawan Rights. Tiphaine Daviot won Best Actress award for "Murder Club" (Mediawan Rights) and Jérémy Gillet won as Best Actor for "Une Amitié Dangereuse" (Mediawan Rights) and Best Original Score was for Julie Roué for "LE Monde N'existe Pas" (Mediawan Rights). In the comedy competition, the Best Series awarded by a high school Jury from Hauts-de-France was "Videoland" (Australia). In the Short Forms Competition, the Best Series prize was for "Ceux Qui Rougissent" (France, Switzerland); the Audience Award was for "Soviet Jeans" (Latvia).
