Flame Distribution had been appointed as global distributor for 3-part natural history documentary series "Life in Colour with David Attenborough" outside of the UK. The series is co-produced by Bristol-based Humble Bee Films and Sydney-based SeaLight Pictures for the BBC, Netflix, Channel 9 and Stan.

"Life in Colour with David Attenborough" sees Sir David on location from the rainforests of Costa Rica to the snowy Scottish Highlands to reveal the extraordinary ways that animals use colour. From the UV signals on a butterfly’s wings and facial markings on a damselfish, to the strange polarisation patterns sported by a mantis shrimp.

Fiona Gilroy, Content Sales & Acquisitions Director, Flame Distribution said: “This spectacular documentary series will have a profound effect on audiences worldwide, especially in light of the environmental issues and impact on our wildlife we are facing. Sir David creates a unique lens through which to see our fellow inhabitants in all their glory and I defy anyone to not be mesmerized by each episode! It’s also an incredible honour to be working with the producers and distinguished broadcasters that are delivering the ‘must see’ documentary of 2021.”

Stephen Dunleavy, Creative Director and Executive Producer, Humble Bee Films said: "To make a series that takes the viewer into unseen territory is a challenge, yet that was the aim of 'Life in Colour' with David Attenborough. The role colour plays in animals’ lives can only be truly understood by seeing it through their eyes. Sir David’s long held fascination with this subject was the starting point and across two years we explored the role of colour and employed new camera technology to help see colours we can’t normally see. With stories from across the world – on land and underwater – 'Life in Colour' is visual feast underpinned by the latest science."

Colette Beaudry, Managing Director and Executive Producer, SeaLight Pictures commented: “While 'Life in Colour' spans the globe, it also rediscovers the basics… birds, and bees..in a way that will resonate with viewers everywhere.  To have had David’s heart and mind so passionately involved in this series has been inspiring beyond compare.”
