Ahead of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, former Netflix EMEA Director, Alexi Wheeler announced the creation of his new UK-based production company, Wheel in Motion. This new venture marks a significant development as it joins Superprod Group, establishing a strong presence for the conglomerate within the UK market.
With a career spanning over two decades, Alexi Wheeler brings a wealth of experience to his latest endeavor. His most recently spent five years at Netflix, where his last role was leading animated series for EMEA. Prior to Netflix, he served as Vice President of International Production and Development at Nickelodeon. Wheeler has contributed to the success of iconic shows such as “Peppa Pig”, “Big Tree City”, “Sharkdog”, “The Last Bus”, “Zero Chill”, and “Heartstopper”. Wheeler's film portfolio features work on Academy Nominated “Robin Robin” and “Chicken Run 2”.
Wheel In Motion is set to develop an array of new shows and movies targeting diverse audiences, encompassing both animation and live-action genres. Alexi Wheeler expressed his enthusiasm for his collaboration with Clement Calvet and Jeremie Fajner, co-founders of Superprod Group. He regarded Superprod as "one of the very best studios in the world right now" and believes that "the timing is perfect for a new and dynamic production company that is able to move with the times, deliver on audience needs and to establish a bold and exciting new slate of content."
