Germany's Global Screen, a Telepool brand, has sold the spy drama series "Davos 1917" to North America and to an additional free-to-air broadcaster in Europe. The UK-based Global Series Network picked up the series for its SVOD feed Walter Presents, curated by Walter Iuzzolino, in North America. National broadcaster RTP in Portugal has also acquired the series and Filmin VOD services for Spain and Portugal.
Brianne Bonney, Global Screen's Head of TV Sales, referenced the main ingredients of the title: "We are very proud to be representing Davos 1917, and it is a real pleasure to announce a significant North American sale at this early stage. It is a lavishly produced and emotionally-charged series set against the stunning backdrop of the Alps. With standout performances by exceptional actors, this is a thriller that dramatically reveals behind-the-scenes global events that dictated the end of WWI," highlighted.
These deals are in addition to recently announced sales to Mediaset in Italy, MTV A Hungary, and ORF Austria. The 6 x 45' thriller launched in December on SRF Switzerland and ARD Germany is inspired by real events that occurred in the early days of the European Secret Services. In 1917, the First World War was ravaging Europe. By contrast, Switzerland seems like an oasis of peace. But behind the scenes of neutral Switzerland, the secret agents of the world powers are lurking in Davos, where a young woman searches for self-determination and does everything she can to win back her daughter taken away from her at birth.
