ITV Studios’ dating format “My Mum, Your Dad” is set to debut in Portugal airing on national broadcaster SIC. The local version is produced by Shine Iberia Portugal and marks the 11th territory to adapt the format.
The Portuguese launch comes shortly after the show was recommissioned for a second season in Brazil by Globoplay, following a successful debut run. The format has already seen local adaptations in the UK (ITV), Australia (Nine Network), Belgium (RTL-TVI), Germany (Vox), France (TF1), French Canada (TVA), New Zealand (TV3), Poland (Polsat), and Sweden (TV4).
Originally created by Greg and Haley Daniels, “My Mum, Your Dad” is a dating show with a twist. It follows single parents—each with significant life experience and college-aged children—as they search for love in a luxury mansion. Unbeknownst to the parents, their children are watching from behind the scenes and participating in challenges that give them the power to interfere with their parent’s budding relationships. The dynamic between parental vulnerability and youthful insight gives the series its unique emotional pull and comedic tension.
“My Mum, Your Dad” has consistently delivered strong ratings and audience engagement across markets. In the UK, it became ITV1’s biggest new peak-time entertainment format of 2023 and the second most-streamed title on ITVX during its launch month. The French-Canadian version achieved the highest audience share in its primetime slot.
The format is distributed internationally by ITV Studios.
