Lightbox, leading US-UK production company co-founded by Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning producer Simon Chinn and Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning producer Jonathan Chinn has announced the appointment of Alexis Gomez-Garcia as VP, Development and the promotion of Suzanne Lavery to SVP, Unscripted. The appointments support Lightbox’s ongoing growth strategy following the company’s recent exit from UK pubcaster Channel 4’s Indie Growth fund. “As we begin the next stage of Lightbox’s evolution, we are thrilled to welcome Alexis, who brings a first-rate track record of developing premium content in areas that are both familiar and new, to the company,” Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn, co-Founders of Lightbox said. “We are also delighted to recognize Suzanne’s contribution to our success with her promotion."

Alexis Gomez-Garcia wil oversee the company’s slate growth of premium returning series, limited series, and feature documentaries for various streaming platforms and broadcasters. She previously served as Senior Director of Development at Critical Content, where she developed and sold projects across all domestic and international streaming platforms and cable networks for Netflix, Amazon, HBO Max, Discovery +, Bravo, E!, and National Geographic. Based in Los Angeles, she is set to report to Creative Director, Development, Ben Samuel. “I am overjoyed in being welcomed to such a respected independent leader in the non-fiction space,” Alexis Gomez-Garcia said. “I am excited about this new phase in my career knowing that with Lightbox we will continue to produce powerful and culturally impactful content that reflects the reality of the world we live in today.”

As SVP, Unscripted, and working out of Lightbox’s London office, Lavery will oversee much of the company’s premium limited series for the global market. BAFTA & Emmy nominated Executive Producer, Lavery joined Lightbox in 2015 as the Showrunner on the multi-award-winning investigative series, "The Traffickers," and since then has overseen feature documentaries, premium limited and multi-part series for SVODs and international broadcasters including Netflix, Amazon, Discovery, BBC, Fusion and National Geographic. Currently, she is executive producing the Netflix original documentary series "The Story of Sophie Toscan du Plantier" and "Return to the Moon" for NAtional Geographic. “Our commitment to high quality, distinctive factual programming for the global market makes Lightbox one of the most exciting places to work and I’m looking forward to collaborating with the supremely talented Lightbox team to keep pushing boundaries and producing outstanding documentary content," Lavery said.

Lightbox currently has two series and one feature doc in production for Netflix and is expanding its relationship with HBO through three feature documentaries including TINA, which recently premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and is the highest showing documentary to date on HBO Max. The company has also won recent orders from Discovery+, Amazon, and Showtime, alongside a landmark series following NASA’s Artemis mission to the moon for National Geographic, and is in production on the first theatrical documentary about "Diana, Princess of Wales." Over the last seven years, the company has more than tripled in size, creating and delivering award-winning, high-profile content for cinemas, broadcasters, and streaming platforms in the US UK, and worldwide. “Despite the very difficult circumstances, last year was our most successful yet and we are well placed for 2021 and beyond to push for further growth, plans for which Alexis and Suzanne will be instrumental,” Chinn said.
