Lux Vide has presented the first look images and a short clip of its new TV series “Blanca” at the Venice Film Festival. The series was produced in collaboration with Rai Fiction and will air in autumn in prime time on Rai 1.

"Blanca"  is directed by Jan Maria Michelini, written by  Francesco Arlanch,  Mario Ruggeri, Luisa Cotta Ramosino, Lea Tafuri and tells the story of Blanca (Maria Chiara Giannetta) a young woman who became blind as a child. The loss of her older sister, at the hands of an abusive boyfriend, makes her develop a very strong sense of justice, to the point of pushing her to enter the police. Her speciality is decodage, an analytical listening technique to all audio materials of investigations, such as interceptions and interrogations.

In addition to being innovative for the contents, "Blanca" is also the first production in the world to have used a special sound recording technique, holophony, which allows to reproduce a sound similarly to how it is perceived by the human auditory apparatus. Besides the series has benefited from artistic advice of Andrea Bocelli that not only described to the screenwriters the 'world of a blind person', but also did a little training to the protagonist of the series, Maria Chiara Giannetta.

For Luca Bernabei, CEO of Lux Vide and producer of "Blanca": "An innovative series like 'Blanca' cannot be improvised. It took four years of development and the creativity of Doc's own working group to achieve this result. I am thrilled, as a producer, to present a series shot in Italian that was sold abroad even before it aired. It is the sign that you can be international without distorting your essence, that you can also talk to the public about important themes using new languages: the music of Calibro 35, a protagonist dressed in techno-street style, a resoundingly beautiful Genoa, but above all the magical direction of Jan Michelini, a modern writing that has enhanced the novels of Patrizia Rinaldi and the contribution of Andrea Bocelli who guided us in his world. Blanca is an Italian series, but one that looks to the world. Like us."

Maria Pia Ammirati, Director of Rai Fiction adds:"The crime drama 'Blanca' is a novelty in the panorama of Italian and international fiction. An innovative series in content, language and modern writing that expresses the tenacity and vital force of the feminine and is the testimonial of a condition of disability interpreted with courageous normality and offered to the awareness of all. A challenge for Maria Chiara Giannetta that gives Blanca an engaging immediacy and uniqueness; and for Giuseppe Zeno and Pierpaolo Spollon who accompany her on the double track of investigations and feelings."
