Fremantle Italy has promoted former CO-CEO Marco Tombolini to CEO. “Italy is one of the most important countries for our group in terms of the extraordinary creativity the country’s talents express, along with their excellent professionalism and ability to deliver," Andrea Scrosati, group COO and CEO of Continental Europe, Fremantle, said. “Marco’s appointment confirms our commitment to continue investing in this market, creating new jobs and supporting the growth of the country’s cultural industry.”
Under his new role, Tombolini will be responsible for overseeing all areas and functions of Fremantle Italy, and its senior management team. With these modifications, Tombolini becomes the sole CEO of the company. He will now work alongside alongside Jaime Ondarza, who previously worked for Paramount, and was appointed as CEO for Southern Europe earlier this year.
Tombolini began his tenure with the company in May 2022, working in collaboration with Gabriele Immirzi, who now works as co-CEO of Fremantle label The Apartment Pictures with Lorenzo Mieli. Before joining Fremantle, Tombolini served as CCO of Endemol, managing director of Sony Spain and managing director of Toro Media and Talpa Italia. Under the new role, Immirzi will still contribute to Fremantle Italy as the Young Pope company owns We Are Who We Are maker The Apartment.
The Apartment is credited with the big-budget Apple TV Italian original series “Ferrari” and Angelina Jolie-directed anti-war drama “Without Blood,” among other high-profile films. Fremantle Italy's catalog includes crime docuseries "Wanna for Netflix," crime procedural "Non Uccidere" and entertainment formats such as "Italia’s Got Talent" and "The Voice Of Italy."
